In a landmark celebration of Gunpla's 45th anniversary, BANDAI SPIRITS is launching "Operation Gundam R with WHG Hotels," a nationwide collaboration set to thrill fans across Japan from July 15 to August 31, 2025. This partnership with WHG Hotels—which includes the Washington Hotel, Hotel Gracery, and Hotel Tavinos chains—delivers a dual experience, attracting a broad audience through a major sustainability campaign while offering an unparalleled retreat for dedicated fans.
A Sustainable Mission: Ecopla Kits and a Nationwide Recycling Effort
The campaign's widest-reaching pillar is the distribution of 100,000 units of the "Ecopla 1/144 RX-78-2 Gundam Assembly Experience Ver." kit. The term "Ecopla" certifies that the model is made from plastic recovered from "runners" (the part frames), as part of BANDAI SPIRITS' "Gunpla Recycle Project." The kit's design requires no tools for assembly, making the experience accessible to new builders.
As part of the sustainability initiative, young guests receive this special tool-free 'Ecopla' kit.
These kits will be given to elementary school students staying at any of the 32 participating hotels during the campaign. To reinforce the message of a circular economy, each hotel will install collection boxes where participants can deposit their model runners after assembly, closing the recycling loop in a tangible and participatory way.

Beyond its broad sustainability focus, the collaboration delivers an exclusive experience for dedicated modeling enthusiasts: the “MG RX-78-2 GUNDAM Ver. 3.0” ROOM. This concept creates a fully immersive environment for the Gunpla building experience, rather than being merely decorative.
The exclusive room provides a dedicated space for model building, complete with a specialized desk.
The offer is limited to a single room in three specific hotels: the Tokyo Bay Ariake Washington Hotel, the Hotel Gracery Tamachi in Tokyo, and the Canal City Fukuoka Washington Hotel in Fukuoka. The space is equipped with a trompe-l'œil art mural that simulates a mobile suit cockpit, a specialized modeling desk, display dioramas, and a designated area for model photography.
Guests in these rooms receive the exclusive "Ecopla MG 1/100 RX-78-2 Gundam Ver.3.0" kit, a Master Grade model with a unique color scheme not available in stores. Additionally, they will receive the "Ecopla 1/144" kit from the general campaign.
Campaign and Reservation Information
The "Ecopla" kits will be distributed at the 32 establishments of the Washington Hotel, Hotel Gracery, and Hotel Tavinos chains in major cities across Japan.
Reservations for the themed rooms are managed through the official WHG Hotels website. These were organized in two phases: the first opened on June 26, 2025, for stays until August 15, and the second opens on July 15 for the remaining period until August 31. The fixed rate is 45,000 yen per night for single or double occupancy and includes breakfast, taxes, and service charges.
