The highly anticipated sequel to Mobile Suit Gundam Hathaway has been officially confirmed. The second installment of the film trilogy is titled MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM HATHAWAY: The Sorcery of Nymph Circe, and its theatrical release in Japan is scheduled for winter 2026. The announcement was made following the final episode of the Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX series, also revealing the return of the main creative team.
Shukou Murase returns as director, with Yasuyuki Muto handling the script and Hiroyuki Sawano composing the soundtrack. The main voice cast—including Kensho Ono (Hathaway Noa), Reina Ueda (Gigi Andalucia), and Junichi Suwabe (Kenneth Sleg)—is also back. The production, by Sunrise and Bandai Namco Filmworks, continues the story of Hathaway Noa and his terrorist organization, Mafty, in their fight against the Earth Federation. This prolonged wait between films stems from the director's meticulous visual approach and pandemic-related delays, which prevented the team from conducting location scouting in Australia, the primary setting for this sequel.
Narrative Keys of the Sequel
The subtitle, The Sorcery of Nymph Circe, holds a dual meaning. On one hand, it refers to the "Circe Unit," the Federation's elite group led by Kenneth Sleg tasked with hunting Mafty. On the other, it symbolically alludes to Gigi Andalucia, whose enigmatic influence and ability to manipulate powerful men position her as a "sorceress" set to alter the protagonists' destinies.

The plot moves to a new setting in Australia, where Mafty plans an attack on a summit of high-ranking Federation officials in Adelaide. Unlike the first installment, which was dominated by nocturnal aerial combat, this film will focus more on large-scale ground engagements. The narrative delves into the complex psychology of Hathaway Noa, a character tormented by trauma and the legacy of Amuro Ray and Char Aznable, whose conflicting ideals shape him into an anti-hero seeking a better future through extremist methods. The story explores themes of government corruption, class struggle, and eco-terrorism, presenting a conflict with deep moral ambiguity.

RX-105 Ξ Gundam
The RX-105 Ξ (Xi) Gundam is the main mobile suit of Hathaway Noa and his organization Mafty. Secretly developed by Anaheim Electronics, this fifth-generation unit incorporates experimental technology. A key feature is its internal Minovsky flight unit, which allows it to reach supersonic speeds (above Mach 2) in Earth's atmosphere for a crucial tactical advantage. The Xi Gundam's design is imposing and monstrous, departing from traditional Gundam aesthetics. It is equipped with powerful weaponry, including a high-speed beam rifle, a shield with a built-in beam cannon, missile launchers in its forearms and knees, and funnel missiles, making it one of the most formidable machines of its era.
The "UC NexT 0100" Project
The Hathaway trilogy is a centerpiece of Sunrise's "UC NexT 0100" project, a long-term initiative to expand the Universal Century timeline. Set in U.C. 0105, Hathaway's story serves as a narrative bridge between the events of Char's Counterattack (U.C. 0093) and Mobile Suit Gundam F91 (U.C. 0123). This project documents the decline of the Earth Federation and the technological transition of mobile suits, laying the groundwork for later conflicts and ensuring a cohesive universe across various formats like manga, video games, and novels.
