Bandai Spirits has announced a new figure of the mobile suit GFreD from the acclaimed anime series Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX. Scheduled for July 2025, this release joins the new "Limit Break" figure line as its third installment. This imposing pre-painted, non-scale prize figure is primarily designed for distribution in Japanese amusement centers, although it is common for such figures to be marketed internationally at a later date. This figure is part of a broader market strategy that also includes a High Grade (HG) model kit and a premium METAL ROBOT Spirits figure.
gMS-κ GFreD: A Closer Look
Holding the official designation of "Unit No. 2," the gMS-κ GFreD is known as the "sister unit" to the protagonist's mobile suit, GQuuuuuuX. Piloted by the character Nyaan, this machine made a stunning debut in the anime's eighth episode. Key design features include a slender build, a distinct purple and green color scheme, and a unique head unit that houses its primary armament: the "Esbit" remote weapons.
The figure's visual concept is a recognized tribute to the iconic Evangelion Unit-01.
The GFreD's visual concept pays a widely acknowledged tribute to the legendary Evangelion Unit-01. This connection is attributed to the anime's production collaboration with Studio Khara, the creators of Rebuild of Evangelion. Within the narrative, the GFreD generates reality-altering phenomena, suggesting a power that transcends the capabilities of a conventional mobile suit.
