SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL: Producer Interview Reveals Future Plans

SD Gundam G Generation ETERNAL, a title that has gained global popularity since its launch, is the central theme of this special interview with producer Shogo Kojima. A promotional code for the mobile game has also been prepared. This interview was originally published on June 30, 2025, in the "Official Gundam Fan Club" in Japan.

Kojima, from Bandai Namco Entertainment, is the producer of G Gen ETERNAL. He is responsible for deciding future content, such as new titles and series to be included, and the types of events to be organized. He previously worked at a group company as a director and planner on the development side, primarily involved in creating RPG and action games for home consoles.

The Evolution of SD Gundam as a Mobile Game

The unexpected success of G Gen ETERNAL has attracted both longtime series fans and new players. The team is currently working to improve the game and adjust its operations to meet player feedback. The key concept for the mobile application was to create a "Gundam encyclopedia that can be played anywhere," preserving the depth of the console series while making it more accessible. The team opted to unlock scenarios sequentially so that players could experience the story in a logical order.

Development took a considerable amount of time due to the challenge of creating a full G Gen experience that could be enjoyed in short bursts. The transition from a controller-based game to touch controls was a significant factor, leading to multiple revisions of the user interface.

Future Plans and Content Updates

The inclusion of new animations for MOBILE SUIT GUNDAM SEED RECOLLECTION generated a positive response, despite not being originally planned. Kojima especially recommends the new GuAIZ Assault (Shiva). As for the future of G Gen, the team plans to add more titles and deliver unimplemented scenarios to players as soon as possible.

SD Gundam characters with their own story content will be added, and the team is also considering the addition of non-animated Gundam works for future updates. The ultimate goal is for this game to become a kind of textbook for the Gundam universe, allowing both veteran G Gen fans and new Gundam discoverers to enjoy it together.

While there are no plans to create original mobile suits specifically for G Gen ETERNAL, original mobile suits from previous G Gen series will be added. Kojima notes that due to the launch of G Gen ETERNAL, he has not yet visited the "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION" at the Osaka/Kansai Expo but would like to visit before the exhibition ends.

The development team is grateful for the tremendous response from fans worldwide and will continue to strive to meet player expectations.
