About the YMS-09 Prototype Dom
The YMS-09 Prototype Dom is a Mobile Suit developed by the Zimmad company for the Principality of Zeon during the One Year War, featured in the Mobile Suit Variation (MSV) design series. Its creation was driven by the need to overcome the limited mobility of earlier ground-based suits like the Zaku II and Gouf. The key breakthrough was the implementation of leg-mounted thrusters combined with hovering systems, which allowed it to travel at speeds up to 381 km/h (approx. 237 mph).
Powered by "Saturn" thermonuclear jet engines in its legs and waist, the Dom could glide efficiently over uneven terrain. Its design incorporated a distinctive skirt armor to protect the thrusters and a reinforced cockpit. Standard armaments included a 360mm Giant Bazooka for long-range combat and a Heat Saber for close-quarters engagements. Additionally, it featured a scattering beam gun in the chest, capable of blinding enemy sensors and disrupting I-fields. Following the success of the two prototypes, the design was refined for the mass-production MS-09 Dom, which was assigned to elite pilots such as the Black Tri-Stars.
