On November 20, 2025, Dwango Co., Ltd. and Pixiv Inc. announced the nominees for the "Net Buzzwords 100," an annual event quantifying internet culture influence based on Nico Nico Pedia and Pixiv Encyclopedia traffic. While Gundam SEED Freedom took top honors last year, this edition presents an unprecedented scenario: the absolute hegemony of Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX. Of the hundred terms selected to define the year, 20 belong exclusively to this franchise, capturing one-fifth of the digital conversation in Japan.

The collaboration between Sunrise and Studio Khara (Evangelion) has generated massive cultural impact, reflected in the variety of nominated terms. The list extends beyond the title to include names of characters, mecha, and specific memes born from the fan community.

Originally announced at the Gundam Winter Conference 2024 as a "dream crossover," the series features direction by Kazuya Tsurumaki (FLCL) and scripts by Hideaki Anno and Yoji Enokido. Its launch began with the film Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning- in January 2025, which grossed 3 billion yen, becoming the second highest-grossing Gundam film in history. Subsequently, the 12-episode TV series aired between April and June, solidifying its status.
