The capture of the RX-178 Gundam Mk-II by the AEUG marked a turning point. Analyzing the Mk-II's movable frame technology allowed engineers to revitalize the project. This breakthrough led to the creation of the Hyaku Shiki, a high-performance unit that, while lacking transformation capabilities, excelled in combat maneuvers. Professor M. Nagano, the principal designer, named it "Hyaku Shiki" (Type 100), hoping the design would endure for a century.
