This model delivers advanced articulation, including a neck with a ball-and-clip combination, a torso with lateral tilt, double-jointed elbows and knees, and sliding thigh mechanisms. Key functional elements include an operational cockpit hatch, pivoting calf thrusters, and shoulder armor that unfolds to reveal air intakes. The armament set comprises the "Hyakuri" Beam Rifle and a Dual Beam Saber, which can split or combine into a bayonet; both require specific hand parts for secure holding. The "Oowashi" Backpack is detachable, and its High-Energy Beam Cannons feature deployable grips for firing mode.
Builders should note a few technical aspects: although the design is primarily "undergated," cutting parts from the runners may leave marks requiring touch-ups with metallic colors. ORB-01 Akatsuki Gundam Overview
The ORB-01 Akatsuki Gundam was initially developed as the primary Mobile Suit for the Orb National Defense Force, but the project stalled due to the prohibitive costs of the "Yata-no-Kagami" beam reflection system. Its existence remained a secret under Uzumi Nara Athha's orders, who left a recording hoping the hangar would never need to open. However, during the Second Alliance-PLANT War, Ledonir Kisaka and Erica Simmons revealed the unit to Cagalli Yula Athha, who piloted it equipped with the "Oowashi" pack to defend Orb. In this conflict, she clashed with Shinn Asuka's Destiny Gundam; although immune to Shinn's beam attacks, she was eventually overpowered by his melee strikes.
Later, Mu La Flaga took command of the unit for space battles. During an intervention in Copernicus, Mu used the Akatsuki to shield the Archangel's crew while rescuing Meer Campbell, who tragically died protecting Lacus Clyne despite the Gundam's defense. In the Battle of Messiah, equipped with the "Shiranui" pack, the Akatsuki played a pivotal role in protecting the Archangel and destroying the Requiem. Years later, during the conflict with the Kingdom of Foundation (C.E. 75), the Akatsuki deployed from a container equipped with a "Mirage Colloid" stealth system. In this battle, Mu utilized the "Yata-no-Kagami" to reflect the Requiem's blast back at the weapon itself, disabling it, before passing the "Zeus Silhouette" to Shinn's Destiny Gundam Spec II for the final blow.
