Also known as the 'God of Death,' piloted by Daryl Lorenz.
"They gave their limbs for a cause, only to have their minds burned away by the very creator they worshipped. The story of the Psycho Zaku Mk-II is the darkest chapter of the Universal Century."
The Cult of the Machine: The Rise and Fall of the MS-06R Psycho Zaku Mk-II
- Subject: MS-06R Zaku II High Mobility Type (Reuse "P" Device) Mk-II
- Affiliation: South Seas Alliance
- Conflict: Post-One Year War / Thunderbolt Sector Conflict
- Status: Decommissioned / Destroyed
1. The Post-War Shadow: A New Religion
The One Year War ended in treaties, but the hatred remained. In this vacuum, the Newtype monk Levan Fuu did not just build an army; he built a cult. Utilizing the South Seas Alliance as his vessel, Fuu secretly acquired the wreckage of the original Psycho Zaku from the Thunderbolt Sector.
Levan Fuu stands atop an unarmored Psycho Zaku Mk-II, symbolizing his control.
He didn't work alone. He recruited former Zeon scientist J.J. Sexton, a man desperate to continue his research, to supervise the reconstruction. But the key was Dr. Karla Mitchum, the mother of the Reuse "P" Device. Her mind shattered by the horrors of the war, she was useless until Levan Fuu used his Newtype abilities to "heal" her psyche—not out of mercy, but to enslave her genius for the mass production of the Mk-II.
Its advanced 'Reuse P Device' technology formed the foundation for the Mk-II.
2. The Taal Volcano Crucible: Unit 1 vs. Unit 2
Ensign Daryl Lorenz's journey defines the narrative of the Mk-II. Originally sent by the Zeon Remnants (under General Kleiber) to recover the technology, Daryl defected to the Alliance after falling under the influence of Commander Claudia Peer and Levan Fuu’s vision.
At the Alliance’s secret base inside the Taal Volcano (Philippines), Daryl witnessed the terrifying scale of Fuu’s ambition: 32 mass-produced Psycho Zaku Mk-IIs undergoing maintenance.
The secret facility served as the crucible for the Alliance's new mechanical gods.
- Unit 1 (The Glass Prototype): Daryl began his training in an unarmored test type. Despite its fragility, he utilized this unit to man a "Big Gun" emplacement, holding off the Federation's assault. However, the lack of armor proved fatal when engaged by Io Fleming in the RX-78AL Atlas Gundam. Unit 1 was destroyed, and Daryl barely escaped with his life.
This vulnerable version allowed him to master the suit's unique controls.
Showcasing combat prowess even in an unarmored state.
- Unit 2 (The God of Death): With the base breached, Daryl switched to the fully armored Unit 2. In a display of overwhelming force that cemented the legend of the Reuse "P" Device, Daryl single-handedly engaged the Federation’s Pegasus-class carrier, the Spartan. Utilizing only two Heat Hawks and the unnatural agility of the device, he sank the carrier, buying time for the remaining 32 units to escape into space.

Utilizing unnatural agility, he single-handedly engaged the vessel.
3. The Chimera: Birth of the Perfect Gundam
The transition from Earth to Space required a radical evolution for Daryl’s Unit 2. Lacking Zeon spare parts for space combat, Daryl and the defectors rendezvoused with General Kleiber’s forces at a hidden space fortress.
Kleiber possessed a prize of his own: the wreckage of the FA-78 Full Armor Gundam from the Thunderbolt Sector. In a stroke of desperate engineering, Unit 2 was retrofitted with the Gundam’s armor and generator.
Transforming it from a fragile prototype into the 'God of Death.'
Crucial Technical Note: This conversion saved Daryl’s life in a way he couldn't foresee. During the retrofit, the original Zaku head of Unit 2 was removed and replaced with the Gundam’s sensor suite. This accidental modification would later exempt him from the massacre that awaited his comrades.
Becoming the hybrid 'Perfect Gundam' in a hidden space fortress.
4. The Konpei Island Breakthrough
Once in space, the mass-produced Mk-IIs proved their strategic dominance. A vanguard team consisting of pilots Fisher Ness, Boris, and Matthew launched an assault on the Federation’s defensive line at Konpei Island (formerly Solomon).
Demonstrating the sheer destructive potential of the Reuse 'P' Device.
Despite being outnumbered, the synchronization provided by the Reuse "P" Device allowed just three units to shatter the defensive line. They moved not like machines, but like a unified organism, paving the way for the main force to advance toward the Solar Ray.
The South Seas Alliance's answer to the Federation's might.
Executing relentless barrages against its opponents.
5. The Betrayal: The "Voltage" Kill-Switch
The tragedy of the Mk-II lies in its hidden function. Dr. Karla Mitchum, operating from the mobile armor Big Zam, had installed a fail-safe in the heads of the mass-produced units.
As the battle for the Solar Ray reached its climax, Karla activated this system. It transmitted a high-voltage electric current directly into the pilots' neural ports. The result was not just control override, but fatal brain damage. The pilots—men who had sacrificed their limbs for the cause—were instantly lobotomized, their bodies left as biological processors for the machines.
Highlighting how the technology ultimately enslaves its users.
- The Survivors: Fisher, Boris, and Matthew survived only because they were docked for maintenance and resupply during the activation. Daryl Lorenz survived because his "Perfect Gundam" no longer possessed the standard Mk-II head where the receiver was located.
6. Conclusion: The Silence of the 26
The 26 remotely controlled Mk-IIs, now piloting themselves with the corpses of their owners inside, were directed toward a horrific objective: the massacre of 150 million Zeon civilians in the evacuation colonies. A broken Karla exacted this final act of nihilistic revenge.
The continuation of Levan Fuu's war amongst the stars.
The genocide was halted only by the dying will of Levan Fuu, who used his last strength to disable the units remotely. Frozen in the void, the 26 Psycho Zakus were destroyed by a concentrated volley from the Earth Federation garrison. They didn't fight back.
The legacy of the MS-06R Psycho Zaku Mk-II is not one of military triumph, but of total loss. It stripped its pilots of their limbs, then their loyalty, and finally their minds, leaving nothing behind but drifting debris in the dark sector.
The skull emblem symbolizes the devastating power of the Reuse 'P' Device.
This tragic tale redefined the cost of war in the Thunderbolt sector. What are your thoughts on the dark fate of the Psycho Zaku pilots? Let us know in the comments below!
